The Week Ahead: Fed Expected to Raise Interest Rates

The Fed chair's press conference will be closely watched. Plus, inflation, industrial production, and retail sales data.

Jeremy Glaser: It is set to be another mostly quiet week, with the Fed meeting ending on Wednesday being an area of focus. The market is currently pricing in a more than 90% chance of a rate hike this week. Beyond that hike, the press conference with the chairman and updated economic projections will also be closely watched.

The consumer price index, industrial production, and retail sales data are also due.

Earnings will be sparse, but we are waiting for results from wide-moat Wiley. The firm posted in-line results last quarter on the strength of its research segment. Long term, analyst Zain Akbari thinks the publisher can growth revenue at a low-single-digit rate and see mid-teens adjusted operating margins.
