The Week Ahead: What to Watch as Netflix, J&J Report

Jeremy Glaser: Third-quarter earnings season continues this week with Netflix kicking things off on Monday. The video streamer has been adding subscribers at an impressive clip, but analyst Neil Macker believes the investment in content needed to keep those numbers rising will continue to weigh on free cash flow.

Wide-moat Johnson & Johnson is due on Tuesday amid sales growth concerns across its divisions, according to Damien Conover.

John Flannery took over the top job at General Electric over the summer, and it's been an eventful couple of months with further management shakeups and the addition of an activist investor to the board. Analyst Barb Noverini thinks that more cost cuts and asset sales are likely on the horizon. The firm is due to report on Friday.

Other earnings this week include American Express, CSX, and Goldman Sachs.

It's a fairly quiet week for data, with industrial production, housing starts, and the Fed Beige Book on tap.
