The Week Ahead: Retailers Report as Earnings Wind Down

Jeremy Glaser: Welcome to The Week Ahead. Earnings season is mostly behind us, but a few technology and retail firms will report.

Costco is due Thursday. The start of fiscal 2017 was a bit slow for the firm, but we're still bullish on its long-term prospects as it gets ready to launch a membership fee increase. HP Inc., reporting Wednesday, has had some decent results recently, and we'll see if that can continue or if what analyst Timothy Feeney describes as the secular headwinds in the PC and printing markets weigh.

Other earnings include Best Buy, Tiffany, and Lowe's.

New and existing home sales will provide a glimpse into the housing market. Durable goods orders, the second reading of first-quarter GDP, and the University of Michigan consumer sentiment reading are also on tap.

Stay tuned to Morningstar for our take on these stories.
