Week Ahead: Second-Quarter Earnings Season Kicks Off

Jeremy Glaser: For Morningstar, I’m Jeremy Glaser and welcome to The Week Ahead, our quick take on what investors should have on their radar screens for the week starting July 11.

Second-quarter earnings seasons kicks off, and we're expecting results from several big banks and asset managers including BlackRock, J.P. Morgan, Citigroup, and Wells Fargo.

The results come on the heels of the banking sector getting a mostly clean bill of health in the latest round of stress tests. Look out for commentary on how the banks are navigating post-Brexit volatility.

There is some important data on tap, too. Retail sales on Friday will give another glimpse at the state of the consumer. While the Consumer Price Index will show if inflation is remaining subdued enough that the Fed can continue its wait and see approach on rates.

Industrial production and consumer sentiment readings are also due.

Stay tuned to Morningstar for our take on all of these stories.
