Macromedia's Future Could Be Flashy, Too
Shockwave.com spin-off should be a hit with investors.
Although shares of Web software and entertainment company Macromedia (MACR) are up 106% in the past year, there could be a lot more room for the stock to rise.
That's because the company, which is a leading developer of software tools such as Dreamweaver, Flash, and Shockwave, may spin off its fastest-growing unit, Shockwave.com, sometime later this year. Though no official date has been set, company officials have signaled that an IPO will take place at some point.
