The Week Ahead: Jobs Data a Final Piece Before Fed Decision

An in-line or better-than-expected report on Friday will push the chances of a rate hike that much higher.

For Morningstar, I'm Jeremy Glaser. Welcome to The Week Ahead, our quick take on what investors should have on their radar screens for the week starting Nov. 30.

As December gets under way, economic data will give us the early read on November's economic activity. The marquee data point will be November's jobs report due out on Friday. October's outstanding employment numbers and subsequent signs that inflation is heading closer to the Fed's target have significantly raised the probability the central bank will raise rates later in December. An in-line or better-than-expected report for this month would push the chances of an increase that much higher. Ahead of the main jobs report, we'll get ADP's employment change numbers on Wednesday.
