Kana, which sells software that allows companies to automatically route and respond to massive volumes of customer e-mail, is snapping up customer relationship management (CRM) software vendor Silknet Software (SILK) for $4.2 billion--a whopping 55% premium to Friday's close. The two companies sport a combined market cap of nearly $10 billion, or 270 times trailing-12-month revenues of about $36 million.
