Readers Discuss: Are Emerging Markets a Buy?

Some posters view pessimism as a contrarian indicator, while others are taking a muted approach to investing in emerging markets.

Despite fairly strong returns in developed U.S. equity markets, many emerging markets are having an off year, dragged down by concerns of slowing growth and weak demand for the natural resources that help drive many developing economies.

That has led some Morningstar.com Discuss forum participants to add to their emerging-markets exposure as a result of this weakness. But not all respondents to my recent query about emerging-markets strategies rate these markets as buys right now.
