On Tuesday, July 9, State Street gave a makeover to an existing family of exchange-traded funds tracking different slices of the U.S. equity market, shifting three existing ETFs from Dow Jones indexes to Russell indexes and rolling out a fourth, brand-new fund.

The changes appear to be aimed at breathing new life into a set of broad index ETFs that have struggled to gain traction with investors. One of the existing ETFs has more than $500 million in assets, but the others have about $40 million and $100 million in them.
