Asian Shares Edge Higher; China Falls

Stocks in Asia were broadly higher in early trade, after Wall Street shrugged off weak global cues and closed up overnight.

At the time of writing, Japan's Nikkei was trading 0.6% higher, India's Sensex rose 1.2%, while Australia's All Ordinaries gained 0.8%. Mainland China's Shanghai Composite, which had remained closed Monday, fell 1.4%, catching up on yesterday's broad global down-move while Hong Kong's stock market remained shut.
