Equities in Europe were trading in either direction early Tuesday, tracking Asian markets that were also trading mixed. Telecom shares traded pressured after a few broker downgrades.
At the time of writing, Britain's FTSE was trading 0.1% higher, France's CAC slipped 0.2% while Germany's DAX was flat.
Shares of telecom companies witnessed selling following a downgrade from Nomura: Cable & Wireless fell 2% while Deutsche Telecom and France Telecom dipped 0.6% each.
Carrefour SA was down about 10% amid concerns over the success of a planned merger deal of a business unit in Brazil.
Food group CSM NV fell 10.7% after issuing a profit warning.
In sector movers, financials were trading lower with Barclays, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole and Deutsche Bank losing 0.6% to 0.9%.
