Europe: Shares Seek Direction at Open

Stocks in Europe opened listless early Monday, as investors looked forward to a waft of economic reports in the week that would set the tone for equities.

At the time of writing, Britain's FTSE rose 0.1% while France's CAC and Germany's DAX were flat.

Financials were trading broadly higher with BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, Deutsche Bank and Societe Generale adding 0.4% to 0.6%. Barclays was up 2.1%.

In news-driven movers, Peugeot climbed 2.2% following a broker upgrade while Imperial Tobacco lost 1.3% after saying it sees lower profits from Spain because of pricing pressures.

Elsewhere, Asian markets were trading mostly lower with oil stocks falling on weak crude prices.
