After the Bell: Disney Earnings on Tap

Walt Disney (DIS) reports quarterly earnings after the market closes Tuesday. Wall Street analysts, on average, expect the firm to report earnings of $0.57 per share, compared with $0.48 per share in the year-ago quarter.

The firm is expected to take a hit on profits thanks to lack of success of the movie Mars Needs Moms, and also because the Japan earthquake affected royalty income from the firm's theme park in the country.

But advertising spend at television networks ABC and ESPN is likely to have ticked higher.

Morningstar analyst Michael Corty feels Walt Disney shares are currently fairly valued.
