Europe Stocks Dip on Greek Woes

Shares in Europe opened lower Monday, following speculation over the weekend debt-ridden Greece was planning to exit the Euro zone, reports later denied by the country.

At 1.30 p.m. (I.S.T.), France's CAC and Germany's DAX slipped 0.1% each while Britain's FTSE edged up 0.2%.

In sector movers, financials were broadly lower following the news from Greece: BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole, Deutsche Bank and Societe Generale lost 1.3% to 1.6% but miners rose: BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Anglo American and Kazakhmys were up between 1% and 1.9% in London.

Stocks that moved on earnings news included Lonmin, which jumped 2.3% after the firm declared its quarterly earnings, and said its profits tripled during the three-month period.
