European Stocks Fall; Oil Stocks Down

Stock index futures in the United States were trading lower Wednesday, following a tepid close on Wall Street overnight. Resource plays weighed on the index after commodity prices fell.

At 1:30 p.m. (I.S.T.), Britain's FTSE, France's CAC and Germany's DAX were off between 0.2% and 0.8%.

Oil stocks were trading pressured, tracking weakness in crude futures, with BP, BG Group and Total declining 1% and 2.1%. While miners BHP Billiton, Rio Tinto, Xstrata and Anglo American were trading between 0.5% and 1.6% lower.

In earnings-driven movers, BMW was up 1.9% while BNP Paribas gained 2.5% after both companies declared respective results.
