Morningstar's Retirement Portfolio Week

Jan. 24-28: Our top income, allocation, risk-management, and investment ideas for retirees.

Even without a financial crisis thrown in the mix, portfolio planning in retirement can be a tricky task. And today's retirees face a distinctive set of challenges, given the current concerns over low yields, rising rates, muni performance, and inflation. Couple those headwinds with the need for retirees' portfolios to last two decades or more, and it's clear today's investors have their work cut out for them.

Morningstar.com's Retirement Portfolio Week aimed to help retired or near-retired investors address the concerns facing them today, with tips on survival tactics for a rising interest rate environment, finding the right asset allocation in retirement, balancing income and total return, optimizing withdrawal strategies, incorporating annuities into a portfolio, and maximizing Social Security benefits.

The week's coverage featured two roundtable discussions, including a live retirement planning webcast on Monday, Jan. 24, at 10 a.m. Central Time and a roundtable discussion with Morningstar strategists on Friday, Jan. 28.

Morningstar readers can access all of the week's coverage below.
