Europe: Stocks Choppy in Early Trade

Shares in the European region were trading choppy in early trade, with marginal movement on both sides of the dotted line.

At 1:00 p.m. (I.S.T.), Britain's FTSE and Germany's DAX were flat while France's CAC inched up 0.1%.

Miners opened weak but made up for early losses while most financials were trading in the red: Barclays, BNP Paribas, Credit Agricole and Deutsche Bank lost 0.4% to 1.7%.

In earnings-driven stocks, Prudential and Anheuser-Busch InBev rose 1.9% and 3.7%, respectively, after both companies posted quarterly results that topped analysts' forecasts.
