Survey Reveals Traits of Chinese Stock Investors
Chinese investors have yet to learn the value of diversification and patience.
A recently concluded two-week-long online survey about stock investment provided us with a rare glimpse of Chinese individual investors. The survey was jointly organized by Sina.com (SINA), China's largest online portal, and China Securities Journal, which is run by the official news provider Xinhua News Agency.
Not surprisingly, 2008 was a bad year; nearly 83% of the survey respondents reported losses. More than 51% of the people in the survey saw their stock portfolio shrink by half in the past year, as the stock index nosedived.
