(Update as of 9:00 am CDT) Stock prices rose shortly after the market opened on Friday, with the Morningstar US Market Index gaining 1%, led by gains in technology stocks. Friday’s gains continue a 0.5% rise in stocks on Thursday.

All 11 stock sectors were up over Thursday’s close. Gains were led by technology, up 1.6%, and communication services, up 1.1%.

The Morningstar Style Box was also up across the board. Large growth stocks led the way with a 1.3% gain while small value trailed the rest of the style box with a 0.5% increase.
