The Week Ahead: Tesla and AT&T to Report Earnings

Companies in the communication-services and technology sectors are also on our list for next week.

Johnson & Johnson JNJ, Procter & Gamble PG, and Netflix NFLX will be kicking off next week’s string of earnings reports on Tuesday. On Wednesday, we are looking out for Verizon Communications VZ, IBM IBM, and Tesla TSLA to report. AT&T T and Intel INTC will close out the week on Thursday.

While many automakers have had some bumps in the road as a result of the automotive chip shortage, Tesla has been able to steer clear. Earlier this month, the narrow-moat company reported deliveries of 241,300 vehicles and has the potential to sell 870,000 vehicles over the year. In the automaker's report, we are hoping to see updates on its new 4680 battery cells and self-driving software.

Edge computing is sparking excitement, but will it drastically change the landscape for communications infrastructure businesses for companies like AT&T and Verizon? We don't expect it to dramatically affect towers, data centers, and network carriers too much or anytime soon. For now, the technological evolution seems to be moving at a steady pace.
