The Week Ahead: IBM, Netflix, and Johnson & Johnson to Report Earnings

Keep your eye out for reports from Coca-Cola, Verizon, Intel, and AT&T.

IBM IBM will be kicking off next week with an earnings report on Monday, followed by Netflix NFLX on Tuesday. For Wednesday, we expect Coca-Cola KO, Johnson & Johnson JNJ, and Verizon VZ. Finally, Intel INTC and AT&T T are scheduled to report on Thursday. Although IBM is the world's largest IT services company, the transition to cloud is playing a role in the deterioration of the firm's moat and competitive advantages. With the cloud and open source software on the rise, our analysts think IBM's enterprise customers will remain loyal. However, these trends could affect the other sides of IBM's business. Johnson & Johnson stands as a leader in the healthcare sector for several reasons: a diverse revenue base, a developing research pipeline, impressive cash flow generation, and a Morningstar Economic Moat Rating of wide. On the other hand, the company does face a challenge: near-term patent losses on hard-to-make complex drugs.
