RE: SMUAX (Muni Tax Fund) For Federal tax purposes, are you allowed to add back "Reinvested Dividends" to your (cost) tax basis when calculating the Cap Gain/Loss after selling? -Joe
Hello: I have been using some short term muni funds(VWSTX, SMUAX ) to park cash. They did a good job during 08 downturn and 03-04 interests rate rising environment. But now muni world is getting
The fund has been stung by defaults and credit downgrades in the distant past, causing some net asset value erosion even as the fund's income obscured such losses in the historical total returns.Compared with other direct-sold peers, this fund's Investor shares expense ratio is pricey.Higher total

(Also posted this in the Port Management forum.) Others have the guts to open their portfolios. Guess I'll invite your comments too ... or maybe well-deserved derision, contempt ... pity(?) Well, FWIW, here goes... In general, I believe in dividends, natural resources and hedged asset protection. Own CTL, VGR, MO HTS AMJ, KMR VZ PGF T LINE EGO, GGN, TAXI, HIX, CIK NRP CRESY FFC ED JNJ HON. No stock is more than 2% of portfolio. Own some muni CEFs, hedged with PSSDX TGBAX, FGADX PAUPX and gold coins. Each about 5% of port. Have a small separate speculative account devoted to options strategies. Plus 25% of my net worth under the care of a good FA. Don't even count those. Sold half of BWP MWE & all of JRO PHD PBT at very good profit last month, took more gains at the 400 point pop early last week. The piper MLPs had run up so much it made me nervous. Sold NLY and NZT at small loss -- maybe too soon. Am very happy with monthly income, but now have too much cash, SMUAX & MYHWX. Consider buying PCL, MSFT, reits or a small cap value fund. Consider selling PGF. Suspicious of emerging mkts, except Brazil. Would buy more HIX LINE JNJ TAXI CRESY AMJ or KMR on dips. Market appears to have lost its upward bias, IMO. Retired, 62, nice pension, very comfortable, no debts, lovely wife, happy as hell. Though I have my biases, will keep an open mind for criticism. Be brutal, fellas! Thanks. --richardsok
Please review this thread and fix SMUAX duration on the Portfolio page . Note discrepancies noted in Post #2788603.
Hello: I just noticed on M*, SMUAX's AED has gone up to 3.34 yrs. It used to be around 0.5 yrs. I called wellstrade and the representative talked to WF mutual fund side and then told me "they don't track their average effective duration". If WFG doesn't track that figure, where has M* get the data?
Hello, Has anyone who owns SMUAX (Wells Fargo Advantage Ultra Short Municipal Income fund) got last month's dividend/interest payout? I started to buy this fund in the middle of February and didn't see any payout from my account for February. I called WellsFargo to check. I was told first it could ...
