  9. Making Up your own AMBF-Bal Fund?

    Commentary

    Thu, 17 Jun 2010

Thinking Out of the AMBF ( Active Managed Balanced Fund ) Box.. Such as the FPACX,OAKBX,PRWCX's and the rest...  What if >Making Up your own AMBF? For the next 10 yrs in mind.. Using just 2 funds.. 1- that is tops at Using Bonds .. to beat the VBMFX ( Or VBIIX )  by +1% apy or more 1 that is Tops at Equities- Beating it's *Index Peers by +2% apy ( using VIMSX as the Index) Why VIMSX? 98'-08'- (Up Until 2008's crash ) and 98'-04',  just compare it to the likes of VFINX and VTSMX.. and comparing to the likes of My AMBF's since same time, it kept up.   That's why I went into Midcap equities way back when.. and I still feel the Midcap Index will continue to Outperform the S&P 500 in yrs ahead, if not at least keep up..and  I like to compromise alot and to me, Mid cap is just that. A Cross Btwn Small and Large Caps.. and? The FA I was using in the Mid-late 90's was using a Diff. Mid cap Index fund B4 VG's came out..and not the Large Cap Index in my port they managed, that actually gave me the heads up.. Pretty easy these past 10 yrs, but for the next, maybe a different story.. 60/40 mix ( But anymix should work from using a Conservative 20/80 to a 80/20 ) Selecting a Mid or Multi-cap Equity Fund such as: *FAIRX  or YAFFX or AKREX or is there Another Aggressive Equity fund that has the Best Potential to (a) Beat the Comparative Index and (b) these other Non Index Funds out there for the next 5-10 yrs? *(and will those Equity Funds continue beating it's Indexing Peers by enough to warrant owning them? That is the Question , AKREX ran FBRVX B4 ) And a  Bond fund  such as? A. VBMFX B. VBIIX C. HABDX D.  PTTRX E.  PAUDX F. Or anyother Pimco Bond Fund? Such as a Global Bond? G.TGBAX/TEGBX/GIM H. Or go with what most Bal.Fnds use> Just  Treas., like Intermediate VFITX.? What combo of using just 1 of each would you choose? I'm just starting on this project.. asked in the Pimco Boards for the best Pimco Bond Fund.. and the Best combo Could end up Blowing just about everything else out of box and we could set Wall Street On it's ear, not to mention All the FA's/CFP's and not to mention the Indexer's as well..and imagine influencing all the Newbies getting into this investing business?  BTW.. If I had just put 60% into my 00' Equity  and 40% into my Core R Bond  ports? by simply chance, I'd beaten all AMBF's for past 10 yrs ( +14% apy ) and counting. But that would have defeated the Purpose of Using AMBF's in the 1st place and I'd never had put that much $ into those Equities..Let alone gambled as much with them as I did.
