Shares of power-plant operators fell sharply as traders rotated into more economically sensitive sectors.

ERCOT, the power grid that serves most of Texas, expects a drop in electric generating capacity as coal-fired plants are retired.

Southern Co. could see backlash from state utility regulators who must soon decide what portion of costs Georgia consumers will pay on a half-finished nuclear plant shortly after the company's Georgia Power unit suffered an outage at the Atlanta airport, The Wall Street Journal reported.
