What is the Nasdaq?

The Nasdaq Stock Market is an electronic exchange for trading securities that is operated by Nasdaq, Inc.

The Nasdaq can also refer to the Nasdaq Composite Index, which measures the performance of all domestic and international stocks listed on the Nasdaq exchange. The Nasdaq Composite includes tech giants like Apple, Amazon.com, and Google.

Nasdaq, Inc., which trades under the ticker NDAQ, is based in New York City and operates exchanges in 29 countries, one clearinghouse, and five central securities depositories in the United States and Europe.
