London Stock Exchange PLC climbed 2.3%, with the exchange operator saying first-half pretax profit rose to 136.8 million pounds ($215.8 million) from GBP116 million a year earlier.

ESSEN, Germany--Power company RWE AG (RWE.XE) won't follow in rival E.ON SE's (EOAN.XE) footsteps and split in two, although RWE considered a similar move two years ago, its chief executive said Wednesday.
