NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (JPM) has received a "Wells" notice from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, said the firm in a regulatory filing on Thursday. The notice from the CFTC is notifying the firm that the regulator intends to recommend enforcement action against the bank in connection with certain trading activities related to the "London Whale" scandal. The trading activities were allegedly undertaken by former employees in the chief investment office in the first quarter of 2012. The CFTC had been investigating the biggest U.S. bank by assets for alleged manipulation of a market index related to corporate bonds, according to media reports. In a related global settlement with four regulators, the firm agreed to pay $920 million and admitted to wrongdoing on charges related to the London Whale.
