CAC-Florida Medical Centers (CAC) announced today that the Miami-based health care company plans to expand its presence in Central Florida this fall with the addition of a third medical center.
The new 10,000-sq.-ft. center will be located at 637 Semoran Boulevard in Orlando and will offer the same full-service, multi-specialty, coordinated approach to care that patients currently receive at CAC’s Pine Hills and Kissimmee medical centers.
The new Semoran location will also include a separate Wellness Center where patients can participate in a wide range of social, health and lifestyle classes and activities, including on-site exercise classes through the SilverSneakers Fitness Program, one of the nation’s leading exercise programs for older adults.
In 2012, CAC expanded from its South Florida base to Central Florida, opening centers in Kissimmee and in the Pine Hills area of Orlando. This fall, the health care company will extend its South Florida reach into Broward County and expand its presence to the Tampa Bay market opening two new centers there.
CAC’s new full-service, multi-specialty Orlando medical center will offer comprehensive outpatient medical care, including primary and specialty care, pharmacy services, pain management treatment and diagnostic testing. Physicians will be available 24 hours a day, and transportation to the center will be provided to patients in accordance with their health plan benefits.
“Patients in Central Florida have responded enthusiastically to our ‘all in one place’ concept of providing quality preventive, primary and specialty care, as well as our wellness and social activities that add so much to their health and well-being,” said CAC-Florida CEO Mark Kent. “In our first year in Central Florida, we exceeded expected patient growth by 200 percent.”
All of CAC’s medical centers have achieved certification by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) as a level one Physician Practice Connections® – Patient-Centered Medical Home™, recognizing the company’s long-time commitment to high quality primary and preventive patient care at its medical centers. In 2012, CAC also received additional recognition from NCQA for its achievement in Patient Centered Home measureable quality improvements.
CAC-Florida Medical Centers has also achieved three-year recognition through the Diabetes Recognition Program developed by NCQA and the American Diabetes Association to recognize physicians who have an established track record of providing excellent diabetes care to patients.
“By doing all of this, we’ve reduced unnecessary emergency room visits by 57 percent and in-patient admissions by 42 percent across patients in our Diabetes program,” said Kent.

Its medical centers serve Medicare Advantage members of CarePlus Health Plans, a Miami-based Medicare HMO with members in Central Florida, and patients with Original Medicare.
