JMP Group Inc. (NYSE: JMP), an investment banking and alternative asset management firm, announced today that Jorge Solares-Parkhurst has joined JMP Securities as a managing director in its financial services investment banking group. Mr. Solares-Parkhurst, who is based in the firm’s New York office, will focus on the specialty finance industry.
“Jorge is an experienced investment banker who will contribute immediately to JMP’s financial services practice,” said Kent Ledbetter, JMP Securities’ director of investment banking. “JMP is well established as a leading underwriter and advisor in the financial services sector. Jorge’s arrival further enhances our investment banking expertise and broadens our calling effort across a multitude of commercial and consumer finance companies.”
Prior to joining JMP Securities, Mr. Solares-Parkhurst had been a director in the global financial institutions group at Credit Suisse, where he worked with U.S. specialty lenders and regional banks. He previously served as a managing director at FBR Capital Markets and a senior managing director at Bear, Stearns & Co. Mr. Solares-Parkhurst began his career in PaineWebber’s investment banking division, remaining with the firm following its acquisition by UBS and concluding his tenure there as a director in the financial institutions group for the Americas. He holds a B.S.F.S. in international economics from the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University.
