SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Netflix Inc. NFLX Chief Executive Reed Hastings said Monday that the company's original series "House of Cards" has so far been "a great success" since the show debuted Feb. 1. Speaking at a Morgan Stanley technology and media conference in San Francisco, Hastings said that "House of Cards", starring Kevin Spacey, "is still a small part of [our] overall viewing" due to the amount of content available on Netflix, and that the "real value" from the show should come in its second season. Hastings didn't give any details on viewership hours for "House of Cards," but said, "we paid a lot for a property that we felt had high odds of success, and it's met all our expectations." Netflix shares rose 2.5% to $184.32 during Hastings' appearance at the conference.
