NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Hot Topic Inc. HOTT jumped 29% on Thursday after private-equity firm Sycamore Partners said it agreed to buy the music and movie-inspired teen gear retailer for $14 a share, or a total of about $600 million. The per-share price represents a premium of 30% over Hot Topic's closing price on Wednesday.
