For Morningstar, I'm Jeremy Glaser. Welcome to The Week Ahead, our quick take on what investors should have on their radar screens for the week starting Feb. 29.
It’s a busy data week, as we get our first glimpse of how the economy performed in February.
Jobs data on Friday will reveal if employers kept hiring despite volatility in the stock market and mounting concerns about global growth. Although it can be choppy month-to-month, we will also be looking at the wage growth numbers.
The ISM index, due Tuesday, is a closely watched gauge of the health of the manufacturing sector, which has been under pressure from a strong dollar and weak energy prices.
Other data releases this week include the Fed Beige Book, ISM Services index, productivity numbers, and a look at the trade balance.
On the earnings front, Costso reports on Wednesday. We'll see if the warehouse club operator can maintain its robust sales trend.
Hewlett Packard Enterprise has been in cost-control mode as it looks for ways to grow its services and networking businesses. We'll get an earnings update from the firm on Thursday.
Stay tuned to Morningstar for our take on all of these stories throughout the week.
