Some Bright Spots in a Gloomy Jobs Report

Revised data from August and September show fewer jobs lost in those months, and temporary-help trends are encouraging, says Morningstar's Bob Johnson.

From the Bureau of Labor Statistics Report:

The change in total nonfarm payroll employment for August was revised from
-201,000 to -154,000, and the change for September was revised from -263,000 to -219,000.

...

Temporary help services has added 44,000 jobs since July, including 34,000 in October. From January 2008 through July 2009, temporary help services had lost an average of 44,000 jobs per month.
