Wal-Mart, L Brands, Gap, and Home Depot are among those reporting. Plus, retail sales, housing starts, and minutes from the Fed's meeting.
Jeremy Glaser: Welcome to The Week Ahead. Retailers take center stage with earnings. Between squeezed consumers, changing preferences, relentless competition from Amazon and other e-commerce sites, brick-and-mortar retailers have had a challenging time recently.
We will hear from a broad range of retailers including Wal-Mart, Target, Coach, Dick's Sporting Goods. Victoria's Secret parent L Brands, Gap, and Home Depot.
The consumer theme will carry over to data with retail sales on Tuesday. Other data we will be watching for includes housing starts, building permits, and industrial production.
The Fed minutes released on Wednesday will also be eyed for signs of how the bank is thinking about the start of its balance sheet normalization process and the potential for another rate increase later this year.
