Emerging market bond issuance hits highest on record in September
Issuance of dollar-denominated emerging-market bonds posted a record in September, tallying $72.7 billion in the month, according to CreditSights. The lion's share of that record monthly issuance was driven by less creditworthy countries like Turkey and Russia, which issued $3.9 billion. Ukraine also raised $3 billion, its first bond sale since its debt was restructured. Emerging market debt has attracted strong appetite from investors searching for richer-yielding assets amid ultralow and below-zero bonds in markets like Germany and Japan.
