Facebook is still 3.46 times bigger than all the cryptocurrencies in the world
Is THIS the top? The world's cryptocurrencies continue to grow year after year, hitting a combined market cap of more than $143 billion.
And the combined total market cap of online currencies is turning out to be more than the combined market caps of many online companies too.
All the cryptocurrencies in the world are worth more than PayPal, Expedia, Zillow and Twitter combined. Ethereum alone is bigger than Expedia and Groupon combined.
HowMuch.Net (https://howmuch.net/articles/putting-the-crypto-market-in-perspective) put together a graphic visualizing how some of the world's biggest online companies stack up against the online currencies.
Of course, Facebook is still 3.5 times bigger than all the cryptocurrencies combined.
Bitcoin and Ether had a volatile September, (http://www.marketwatch.com/story/bitcoin-ether-wrap-up-month-with-steep-losses-2017-09-29) with the price of a single bitcoin rising by about 20% over the past week, but finishing September 16% lower. Over the quarter, bitcoin prices are up 67%. Ether tokens saw a 12% weekly gain, but the digital currency is still in a bear market as it's down more than 20% since the start of the month.
