IHS Markit Wins Best Carbon Credit Registry Award for Eighth Straight Year

IHS Markit (Nasdaq: INFO), a world leader in critical information, analytics and solutions, was named Best Registry Provider in Environmental Finance magazine’s 2017 Voluntary Carbon Markets Rankings. IHS Markit has won the award for eight straight years.

“We are honored that the industry and Environmental Finance have again recognized our service with this prestigious award, especially at a time when carbon markets are experiencing record growth,” said Kathy Benini, managing director and head of Environmental Registry and Auctions at IHS Markit.

The firm’s Environmental Registry has seen issuance of new carbon credits increase more than 60 percent over the last year.

“We observe rising demand for offsets from corporations committed to becoming carbon neutral and trading companies coming back into the market in anticipation of CORSIA and other new initiatives. I think we are at an inflection point for the market,” added Benini.

Winners were chosen based on a survey of carbon market participants. More than 1,000 respondents voted in 16 categories of awards.

Environmental Finance provides news and analysis on sustainable investment, green finance and the people and companies active in environmental markets.

The Environmental Registry is the largest, global, voluntary registry for carbon, water and biodiversity credits, measured by volume, number of environmental standards on the registry and number of customers. It provides full tracking of credits from issuance to transfer to retirement or cancellation for more than 190 million credits.
