Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri Adds Saint Louis County Health Centers to Provider Network

Anthem’s Medicare plans will cover care provided by health centers to enrollees

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Missouri (Anthem) announced that individuals enrolled in its Medicare Advantage plans have access to providers at three Saint Louis County Health Centers as part of its network of clinicians. The Medicare Advantage plans include the Health Maintenance Organization (HMO), Preferred Provider Organization (PPO), and Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) plans. This expansion to Anthem’s provider network began September 1, 2017.

“Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield is honored to have the Saint Louis County Health Centers as part of its network of providers,” said David McNichols, president of Anthem’s Medicare central region. “These health centers deliver an important service to the community – offering services, including preventive and primary care – to ensure proactive, patient-centered care.”

Anthem’s Medicare Advantage plans are for individuals 65 years of age and older as well as individuals with certain disabilities. Individuals who qualify for Medicare and Missouri’s Medicaid program can enroll in one of Anthem’s dual-eligible plans.

The clinicians added to Anthem’s network are located at three Saint Louis County Health Centers:

  • John C. Murphy Health Center. 6121 North Hanley Road, St Louis, MO 63134
  • North Central Community Health Center. 4000 Jennings Station Road, St Louis, MO 63121
  • South County Health Center. 4580 South Lindbergh Blvd, St Louis, MO 63127

“Becoming part of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield’s Medicare network of providers makes our health services more accessible to the residents of the St. Louis area,” said Dr. Faisal Khan, director of the Saint Louis County Department of Public Health. “It is our mission to ensure the public health safety net, which for us means offering comprehensive health care. Today’s announcement is another step in that direction.”

The health centers provide a wide-range of services from adult medical services to dental services. They also offer education classes to help individuals manage their health, including chronic diseases such as diabetes.
